Do you want to be alive and really live?

Unlocking true freedom

I’ve spoken with a lot of people about their dreams, goals, and the “whys” behind their life’s work.

I’ve come to realize that it typically stems from freedom — People want freedom.

What is freedom?

There’s time freedom — Not having timely obligations or a set schedule
There’s location freedom — Being able to be at any place you want, at any time.
There’s safety freedom — Being able to take bigger risks with little repercussions.
There’s financial freedom — The ability to spend money without checking your bank account.

These are four huge freedoms. Everybody would enjoy having these freedoms. But that’s not what it’s about.

Yesterday I learned something about freedom.

The biggest freedoms are the smallest freedoms.

The “big four” freedoms I just mentioned come with a ton of effort (and usually time, too).

Little freedoms are the biggest freedoms because they are immediately accessible if you’re open to them.

The little “pet peeve” you have — NOT REAL. The “annoying” thing your best friend does — NOT REAL.

100% of these battles are in your Head.

It's my head telling me the windshield wipers can't go too fast or else I'll be pissed off.
It's my head telling me I NEED 8 hours of sleep or else I won't have any energy tomorrow.
It's my head telling me the music volume must be PERFECT or else I can't enjoy it.

There are no imperfections, pet peeves, or things that frustrate me — I now simply see them as opportunities to free myself. I don't identify with "pet peeves." Yes, I still get angry at little things. But I'm harnessing the power to quickly reframe it into freedom.

In a state of anger, we like to stay consistent with our past selves because it feeds the hell out of our ego.

Our ego LIKES being angry because it feels slightly good to resist. Even though resistance, anger, and ego come from a place of conditional love, not unconditional (true) love.

When something is driving me CRAZY and I want to get worked up about it, I allow myself to slow down. Don’t let the primal monkey brain take over. You are always in full control as long as you remember that you are.

The toughest part about using “pet peeves” to free you is to be present and aware enough.

Anger will sometimes take over but if you come back to a place of presence and become hyper aware of what’s going on, it’s easy to free yourself from these things.

Heighten your presence with meditation or sitting in silence with your thoughts.

Another huge thing is nervous system regulation. Keep your nervous system regulated because then “annoying” things won’t trigger your nervous system — Meaning you won’t have a physical reaction of heart rate or blood pressure increase. This will keep your brain calm enough to be properly aware.

Regulating your nervous system comes down to one key thing: Breathwork.

Breathwork controls your nervous system because it gets you more comfortable in life-or-death scenarios (when you breath fast or hold your breath, you are going into a sympathetic, fight-or-flight nervous system)

If you want to free yourself, do breathwork daily. I highly recommend checking out the Coherence App or DMing me and I can send you some breathwork material to get started!

Remember, the small wins earn you the small freedoms. The small freedoms earn you the good life. The good life earns you the biggest freedoms imaginable.
